The tutorial stops fighting back
If you rolled a fresh character lately and got jumped by your own practice targets, sorry about that. Fixed now.
The training dummies were wandering off and swinging at people, and the floppies were chasing level one peasants around the field. The opening is supposed to be a calm place to find your feet, not an ambush.

So the dummies stand still, the way a dummy should, and wait for you to practice on them. The floppies hop around and you can knock them over for a little experience. None of them hit back, chase you, or hold a grudge when you swing first.
The cause was small and stubborn. Telling a creature to leave you alone on sight turns out not to be the same as telling it never to fight back, so the moment a new player took a practice swing the thing decided it had a quarrel after all. There are two clean behaviours now, one for inert dummies and one for harmless critters that wander but never raise a hand, and we will reuse both for any other peaceful thing later.
The rest of this area is mapped out and on the way: the teachers, a gardener with a quest to thin his garden, the proper building, the tutorial book. For now the very first thing you touch is gentle. Go knock a floppy or two around.
